Job Title: G20 Liaison Officer
G20 Liaison Officer: Response to Selection Criteria
I currently work as Executive Assistant to Simon Crowther, FAS of the Regional Network
Division. I consistently practice sound judgement and decision making and approach my
work with professionalism and commitment at all times. I acknowledge it is essential to have
a fundamental understanding of people’s needs in order to assist. I recognise it is vital to
apply good judgement and intelligence in all situations.
I pride myself on my ability to establish effective relationships and to deal in an appropriate
manner with people from different areas and organisations. In the various positions I have
held I have been required to communicate effectively in both an oral and written manner in
a variety of situations. I have the ability to work autonomously and have also worked in large
and small teams. I often volunteer and work outside of my duties to step in and assist other
staff members and colleagues in meeting their deadlines.
I am confident that my experience in Executive support is well suited to the responsibilities
of Liaison Officer. I have strong organisational skills and a flexible work practice which allows
me to adapt to changing demands. I prioritise tasks efficiently and I am used to working with
minimum supervision. I commit myself to completing tasks with an eye on what is required
when planning and preparation is needed.
My ability to make decisions, to plan and organise my work to meet deadlines is
demonstrated each day. A clear example of the result is the effective running of the FAS’s
office, having my Executive well prepared for meetings. I am an honest and reliable team
member who is very capable of working with limited supervision.
My understanding of the role of Liaison Officer is to assist the delegates of the G20 and to
provide liaison services between the Taskforce and the Group of Twenty.
My experience in liaising with Senior Officials has recently been demonstrated when tasked
to arrange a Workshop for the Indigenous Advancement Strategy that included several very
high profile external participants. I liaised with the invited guests in various locations
including Perth, London, Sydney and Canberra in order to gauge their preferences, travel
and accommodation needs.
It is my practice to lead by example and reflect my strong work ethic through role modelling
and by actively encouraging others to showcase their individual strengths. I possess a high
standard of interpersonal skills, strong initiative and the ability to anticipate outcomes.
I aim to communicate with purpose and clarity to avoid misunderstanding wherever possible
and actively listen to others. I enjoy communicating in person, by telephone or in writing
and know that good communication is the key to efficiency and effectiveness. I am highly
effective in supporting and collaborating with colleagues and have been complimented on
my helpful manner and tactful approach to any situation.
I am committed to fair and equal opportunities for all regardless of race, gender, nationality,
religion or belief, ethnic or national origin, age, sexual orientation or disability. I conduct
myself and my activities in line with the APS Values and Code of Conduct and consistently
behave in an honest, ethical and professional way as my referees will attest.
