Throughout my career, particularly within the Government sector, I have developed the ability to think logically, understand situations from a strategic perspective and follow through by formulating and implementing effective short-term and long-term decisions. Within my role with Scherger Detention Centre as Security Officer, I practiced informed decision-making and demonstrated my sound judgement with recognition of implications. Contributing to solutions and progress, I harness information and opportunities when performing my day-to-day duties, consistently working diligently to adhere with existing practices and improve efficiency. Having the opportunity to demonstrate my capabilities at supporting the strategic direction of my employer, I present as a person with proactive leadership qualities.
Through demonstrating the support of transformational change during my tenure with Scherger Detention Centre, often with a challenging range of stakeholders, I drove numerous strategies that significantly improved the service provided to customers. These improvements were initiated through understanding customer needs, creating a customer-centric culture, and inspiring and enabling my teams to deliver the business vision. The initiatives encompassed service delivery of frontline staff in operational environments and embracing technology to improve outcomes. Embracing the understanding of business objectives, I demonstrated my awareness of issues such as prisoners’ health, which could influence my designated work tasks. Through the identification of these issues, I showed commitment to the appropriate escalation of concerns, adhering to all company guidelines and direction from management. Because of my strengths in the knowledge of where to research required information to assess and escalate stakeholder issues, I was recognised by my peers and management for my commitment to corporate objectives, whilst maintaining the reputation of the business.
A self-motivated and results-orientated professional, I take responsibility for achieving outcomes within my position as a Security Officer at Queensland Curtis LNG (QCLNG). My accomplishments within this position include meeting targets, mentoring and training staff and customers, leading by example, and supporting improvements to systems and procedures. Whilst undertaking my responsibilities with QCLNG in the capacity of Security Officer, I encountered a situation where an employee refused to participate in mandatory alcohol testing. Through my sound understanding of procedure and protocols within the business, I was successful in communicating with the employee regarding the implications of not obliging to undertake the test, such as threatened workplace safety, refusal to carry out work duties and suspension from paid work. Working with this particularly difficult employee, I ensured that the test was performed as per guidelines and that he could then commence work once a satisfactory result was achieved. On this occasion, I was proactive and customer-sensitive, which allowed me the ability to exceed the service expectations of the employee and as such, achieve the desired results for all stakeholders involved. Possessing an ability to achieve results in a protocol and results-driven environment, I demonstrate my strong desire to excel in all business areas, whilst striving for excellence.
During my tenure with Scherger Detention Centre as Security Officer, the management team was often overloaded with extra duties, and I provided assistance to the team by carrying out numerous administrative and support tasks. The productive relationships that I fostered provided me, throughout my career, with the opportunity to step in as a temporary replacement into higher-level roles. To facilitate business objectives that I contributed to as a collaborative team member, I have formed constructive relationships with all stakeholders, ensuring processes are followed and culture within the company is upheld. Demonstrating a commitment to supporting constructive working relationships, I value individual differences and diversity, and recognise the working styles of individuals, factoring this knowledge into my management of tasks. During communication with external and internal stakeholders, I treat everyone with respect and courtesy, thus verifying my ability to build long-lasting and professional relationships. Consistently, I receive positive feedback from all stakeholders within my work settings due to my positive and proactive approach, my clear understanding of requirements, as well as my ability to maintain accurate records and files and the professional manner in which I conduct myself in a business setting.
Demonstrating a high level of personal drive and integrity, I successfully balance work with the ability to multitask and remain focused.
