I have enclosed my resume which highlights the fact that I have 17 years of experience and extensive skills and knowledge, which will assist me to undertake this role successfully. I have gained extensive experience in financial management with experience across most facets of finance including month end, preparation of accounts, accounts payable and receivable, cash flow management, management accounting, financial accounting, as well as Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A). To complement an extensive background in financial management, I am currently undertaking a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) with Swinburne University and have completed an Advanced Diploma of Business Accounting.
Currently as the Finance and Business Services Manager with the Wide Bay Medicare Local office I am responsible for connecting pathways within the community, leading the department’s finance function and the management of a team of 15 people. Prior to this role, I spent 4 years as the Finance and Administration Manager responsible for the overall management of the Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre, managing a budget in excess of $36 million dollars and leading a team of 50 people. These roles have combined to provide me with strong operational and strategic management capabilities, including exceptional skills in marshalling and harnessing the skills and experience of individuals and teams to deliver business outcomes. I demonstrate proven leadership skills, with a passionate commitment to fostering a culture of performance, mentoring, coaching and engaging staff in a process of continuous learning and development outstanding interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop productive networks and to interact effectively and respectively with people from all cultural and social backgrounds.
Throughout my personal and work life, I have sought to continually challenge myself through the roles I have undertaken including hiking and completing the Kokoda Trail in 2006. I have maintained a high level of enthusiasm through each role I have undertaken and like to “think outside the square” in developing innovative solutions and using my highly developed problem solving skills. This was evidenced in my role with The GEO Group Australia as the Finance and Administration Manager where I conceived and implemented new and very unique reintegration programme for prisoners that has subsequently been adopted by facilities across Australia.
A confident and experienced communicator, I possess high-level oral and written communication skills which can be demonstrated throughout my employment history where I have communicated with internal and external stakeholders both verbally and in writing on a daily basis. Throughout my career I have assumed a high level of responsibility that has demanded exceptional communication such as undertaking analysis, requirement gathering, staff management, staff mentoring and training, preparing reports, attending meetings and ensuring regulatory and compliance. I listen carefully to others and check to ensure their views have been understood. I check my own understanding of others’ comments and approach negotiations with a strong grasp of the key issues, having prepared in advance.
A large part of my success throughout my career has been attributed to my superior communication skills, I communicate extensively with executive management, key stakeholders, team members and vendors. I carefully balance the capabilities of the organisation with the requirements of key stakeholders, determining the best fit solutions through my ability to communicate with influence, and undertake successful negotiations, particularly when managing stakeholders. In my current role as Finance and Business Services Manager with the Wide Bay Medicare Local office, I work in a multi-skilled team and liaise externally with health professionals, institutions, industry associations, external consultants, other health entities and agencies and the public on a daily basis. I work on my own tasks to meet team deadlines, offer assistance when needed, and also seek and utilise the expertise and knowledge of others in working towards a common goal.
I am naturally a positive and enthusiastic person, who has approached all positions over the past 17 years with this frame of mind.
