| Situation | As an export coordinator in a wool company, one of my responsibilities was to ensure all relevant custom documentation was lodged prior to shipment. |
| Task | 48 hours before the cut-off date, I was informed by the packing company that the packing machines had broken down so they were unable to deliver the wool product to the required vessel. They also needed 2-3 days to fix the machines. In this case, if the packer could not manage this accident within 2 days, our company would have to pay AUD$800.00 Terminal Handling Charge to the cargo company. |
| Action | 1. I emailed the packer claiming that they had to bear the extra charge generated from this accident, and asked the packer to bring us up to date.
2. I referred this matter upwards to my director for further decision. 3. In order to find more possibilities to make up the problem, I contacted the cargo company regarding the policy of Transport & Terminal Receival |

| Situation | My analytical skills were proven by the success of work during my recent job in a wool company. Before issuing a Documentary Credit, I had to read through every condition, term, detail of the order, that drafted by the customer, according to the business contract. Once the formal Documentary Credit was issued, the banks and the exporter customs would exam the products based on it. If something was wrong or different from the formal Documentary Credit, banks would not proceed the international payment and the exporter customs would detain the products. |
| Task | One of the order requirements was this order must be shipped before 16/04/2015. Due to the unstable weather in Melbourne, it was highly likely held up for a few days until the weather allowed the cargo to set off. |
| Action | 1. I checked up the weather forecast and knew the weather would turn good 3 days later
2. I emailed the customer about the situation and requested a change of the latest day of shipment and to spare another 7 days to the original leave day. |
| Result | Things worked out like my prediction, and the order was successfully shipped to the destination. |

I could view the same problem from different perspectives and arrive at the best possible solution. The company was very pleased by the way we conducted the project.
