Throughout my professional development and vocational industry experience, I have developed the ability to think logically, understand situations from a strategic perspective and follow through by formulating and implementing effective short-term and long-term processes.
During my final year of obtaining my Bachelor of Engineering, I completed a thesis on road stabilisation that displayed my sound knowledge of standards and legislative requirements.
Additionally, I completed studies into concrete codes such as AS3600, AS4100, AS1170, AS1289 and Queensland urban design guidelines for stormwater. Committed to adhering to all compliance frameworks, I produced cost effective methodology in identify structural data that would strengthen the building to ensure that the strength of soil and foundations would withstand environmental conditions particular to Queensland such as floods.
Within my role as Vocational Engineer at Aurizon Limited, I performed in this positon for a six-month period reporting to the Senior Road Interface Engineer. Accountable for the creation of AutoCAD drawings for level crossings and coal dust monitoring stations, I prepared and calculated cost estimates for multiple stowage installations. Additionally, I also coordinated the uninstallation of a tilt train track on a regional Queensland depot. Achieving resulting in these unique projects, I exhibited my strong problem solving skills, excellent communication and negotiation skills and a strong customer focus centred on my technical and legislative knowledge.
Through embracing key operational polices, standard operation procedures and legislative regulations for the engineering sector, I have ensured that all documentation is up‑to‑date and relevant. Aligning standards with best practice, I additionally adhere to all industry standards and guidelines, including the engineering standards, new protective frameworks and risk assessment initiatives. Demonstrated through my professional development and career to date, I have acquired extensive experience in effective communication in response technical data and the impact on business objectives. Working in collaboration with Aurizon Network, I was able to develop the appropriate processes that staff required in order to ensure success in the effective and timely delivery of AutoCAD drawings. To support initiative, I gathered and collated critical data at various sites including Blackwater to develop request AutoCAD drawings. After collating this data, I then met with key stakeholders to inform and influence them regarding the technical data produced and the conclusions recommended that would be paramount in the success of business outcomes. To present this information, I drew on my sound ability to use persuasive communication techniques. Convincing the stakeholders of the calculated risk benefits, I was successful in my use of verbal communication and written documentation in order to persuade the stakeholders to adopt the best practice approach that I presented.
Validating my ability to converse with educational and industry peers, I presented thesis to an audience of fellow students, lecturers, community members, members of Engineers Australia (EA), and industry nominated representatives. Delivering a presentation that was explicit in technical reference and embraced by the audience, I received acclaim from industry nominated members and received a distinction credit overall for the project. Through the provision of highly visible, collaborative and inclusive communication, I have demonstrated my capacity to build upon positive partnerships across the community, which has resulted in high levels of strategic outcomes.

Within the position of Vocational Engineer at Aurizon Limited, I demonstrated my logical thinking and capability to anticipate potential problems with projected solutions. Working with a level headedness and resilience, I was able to assessing a situation to deliver to clients the estimations on required work and the timeframes these projects would entail. Demonstrating this through my site visits working with site management to measure and confirm coordinates using measurement devises. Committed to facility and field meetings, I attended regular site meetings with project manager, senior management and communicated collaborated resolutions to key stakeholders. Facilitated by my deep understanding of the industry and the functions of the business, I was instrumental in the cohesive and collaborative actions that lead to a positive result for all stakeholders.
Working in a environment where there are multiple stakeholders, I act in a collaborative and solution focused method to ensure deadlines are met. Performing at Aurizon as Vocational Engineer, I facilitated a business relationship between two key stakeholders residing in Queensland and Darwin. Through the successful completion of the project, I delivered on establishing critical funding for the tilt train tract at Gracemere and issue resolution to achieve team objectives. Validating my ability to achieve success in collaboration with diverse stakeholders, I received excellent feedback from my supervisor and other project stakeholders and thrived in the opportunity to apply what I have learnt in a commercial and industrial environment.

Confident in my working knowledge of Queensland Public Sector, I draw on my previous position with Aurizon Limited where I displayed my sound understanding of funding and the reporting obligations for projects and their desired outcomes. Committed to best practice and in depth Queensland legislations, I have referred to the Queensland Legislation Handbook that plays a major role in identifying polices, processes and practices of council legislation development.
Acknowledging that there is not a formal system of regulation for engineers throughout Australia, I understand that Queensland currently is the only state where engineers are required by legislation to be registered. Furthermore, I am aware that the only exception is for individuals who practise under the direct supervision of registered professional engineers. Passionate about compliance, I personally research and stay up to date through subscriptions to the National Engineering Registration Board (NERB), Engineers Australia and other stakeholders in the engineering profession.
Within my role as Vocational Engineer, I practiced informed decision‑making and demonstrated my sound judgement with recognition of implications. Contributing to solutions and progress, I harnessed information and opportunities when performing my day-to-day duties, constantly working diligently to adhere with existing practices, in addition to identifying ways of improving efficiency.
