Job Title: Production Officer
Location: Darwin NT
To whom it may concern,
Your advertisement for the positon of Production Officer with the Department of Education was of great interest to me. As a pro-active, highly qualified and self-motivated professional. I have a demonstrated history of over 15 years in design, development and implementation of educational programs within the Australian education system, and five years of experience as a production manager designing programs with a focus on remote indigenous EAL/D students.
With extensive experience in the filming, editing and production of educational resources specifically aimed for indigenous, EAL/D students in remote locations, I have developed and exhibit the necessary proficiency to successfully provide high level specialist advice to managers and other stakeholders. This is demonstrated through the PreVET website (www.prevet.net.au) in which I had a pivotal role managing all of the media. Working in close collaboration with government bodies, internal and external stakeholders in order to film, edit, and produce, my role was to obtain initial footage of indigenous professionals which was revised and evaluated. The videos were integrated into a collective work and utilised to produce an interactive educational magazine which uses quizzes, film, interactive games and puzzles to educate indigenous students in literacy and numeracy, based on a story line that engages the learning mindset of students contextualising learning with future employment opportunities.
In addition to my editing and production expertise, I am also experienced in the development of progressive skills mastery through the use of educational context. This is demonstrated through my current Inpex project which incorporates the development of a matrix drawn from proven behaviour and academic skill acquisition theories which I have developed a three tier level of mastery for students. This is designed to engage the students and scaffold learning through the use of interview questions increasing in intensity until mastery was obtained. I utilise formal project management (PM) techniques on all the projects that I work on aligning with the team’s formal PM approach. I am known for my strong ability to complete milestones. To achieve this, I utilise a number of online management programs such as Dropbox, LiquidPlanner and government reporting templates. I have set up Dropbox and LiquidPlanner to ensure that each element of the project can be managed individually and collectively, flexibly incorporating contracting as required. I contract manage and quality assure contractors as they work inter-dependently monitoring scheduling and task completion closely, tracking each stage of the job minimising quality issues to avoid production delays. I also use the programs to set agreements and standards for all contractors ensuring that work is produced to set standards, including instructional design and visual style guides. I am a person who takes responsibility for her actions and roles ensuring that jobs are completed on-time and within budgets with a high quality outcome.
The ability to produce high level eLearning materials, tailored to EAL requirements of remote Indigenous students, is evidenced in my role across several projects as eLearning Development Manager. I collaborate with industry advisers, schools territory-wide, private businesses and contractors cultivating rapport and intertwining networks of multiculturalism to obtain the results and outcomes sought for the program which I instructionally design. Through the use of highly developed negotiation and communication skills, I actively influence stake-holders, business owners and industry managers by highlighting the community benefits and industry advantages for successfully training students.
My organisational skills are highlighted through the effective management of internal and external stakeholders through to project completion. I use all commonly used forms of business communication to communicate timeframes which are clearly depicted on my management programs. This is to certify each individual aspect is covered allowing the overall concept to be achieved with minimal disruptions. With over 15 years of experience within the eLearning sector, I have worked in every role from graphic design through to eLearning development. I therefore possess a comprehensive understanding of the needs, requirements, copy write, intellectual property law and government procedures with determination and commitment to see projects to completion. Management of budgets, contracts, timelines, managing strong business relationships for the benefit of the project has been a regular responsibility as part of my roles. Additionally, I possess a current Ochre Card and hold various degrees in media production, film and cinematography, and post graduate qualifications in eLearning.
In this team my strong work strong work ethic, determination and attention to detail see milestones completed on time and on budget. I thank you for your time and look forward to the opportunity of further demonstrating my strengths in an interview. At your request I am happy to supply examples of finished and currently active eLearning programs.
