Organisation: Australian Taxation Office
Job Title: APS 3 and APS 4 Information Officer
Word Limit: 500 word Statement
Location: Various
Having worked in multiple and diverse information-providing positions, I have developed my skills and experience in customer contact, a broad range of computer applications and the ability to be organised and efficient in my roles. My particular strengths include liaising with stakeholders, prioritising my workload and as a former employee of the ATO, my knowledge and understanding of its structures and processes. My ability to foster and maintain relationships was demonstrated in my ATO role at Box Hill as Auditor, Micro Enterprises and Individuals. Within this role, we worked as a team to audit 19 accounts per week in a fast paced environment, requiring attention to detail and responsibility. As a team, we worked together to ensure those that were less experienced were teamed with more experienced personnel and my contribution to the team ensured collaboration and knowledge sharing as well as assisting others to complete their work.
Whilst I do not have direct experience with the preparation of documents for publication, I would be very keen to learn these skills and, like other skills in the past, am confident I can achieve this rapidly. Within my ATO Auditing role, I received ongoing and excellent feedback from the Quality Assurance Department regarding the high standard of documentation and client correspondence which I had generated, demonstrating my ability to ensure documents are of a professional standard.
Along with my high level communication skills, I possess research and reporting skills along with intermediate to advanced computer software skills in a range of applications. Across my career, I have developed my skills in a broad range of computer applications, including the Microsoft Office suite and have demonstrated my ability to learn new systems quickly and apply them to my work. Computer systems I have experience in using include: Bcc Enterprise, BMD, Citrix, Siebel CRM, ICP, ATOMS, Mainframe and Smart. These have been used across a range of roles, including the ATO, ANZ and my current role at Dentsu Aegis.
In my current role, I have made a significant positive impact within the Accounts Receivable area, reducing overdue accounts and amounts, and gaining positive feedback from customers along the way. This role requires my ability to be very well organised, to follow up with clients in a timely manner and to build rapport with decision makers inside debtor companies. Over this time, I have been able to recover and collect large amounts of overdue monies, and have proven to be a driven employee who can make complex decisions, deal directly with large organisation’s issues and play an important role in my team in order to succeed.
My high level administrative skills have been particularly useful within the financial collections area where I have developed my skills in dealing with challenging clients, remaining professional under pressure and working with a significant diversity of people successfully. Within my current role I have demonstrated my ability process financial transactions and related paperwork, develop relationships with clients and take ownership for decisions in a role with limited supervision.
