Working in collaboration within the team at Dick Smith since 2009, I have gained an understanding

Within Dick Smith, I have progressed via promotions to a position of Shift Supervisor. Practicing
sound judgement and decision-making with an awareness of implications, I actively contribute to
business solutions and future strategic growth opportunities. Harnessing information and
opportunities when performing my day-to-day duties, I working diligently to improve existing
practices and increase efficiency.
Exhibiting my ability to interpret business guidelines, I use my qualified judgement based on
understanding the guidelines listed in Dick Smith Sales Policies and Procedures Manual. In my role
as Shift Supervisor, I had a customer enter the store to purchase a laptop she had seen on sale in
another store for an advertised sale price. The item in question was not on sale in our store, I
advised the customer that on this occasion the advertised price at the Brisbane store was a store
specific promotion and not available company wide. The customer then explained that access to
the Brisbane was not possible due to floods. Given the circumstances, I referenced company policy
and advised that on this occasion we would match the price advertised in another store. In
providing exceptional service to this customer, I was then able to on sell software that resulted in
a higher sale than the original charge. The decision was based on my knowledge of company sales
objectives around customer satisfaction experience, I was confident in my judgement based on my
commitment to the business and strategic thinking

A self-motivated, results-orientated professional, I take responsibility for achieving outcomes
within my position as Shift Supervisor at Dick Smith. As a result driven position I exceed
expectations by, maintaining accurate and up-to-date rosters along with collaboration with team
members to provide consistent, timely and responsive service to customers been.
Throughout my six years working within Dick Smith, I have been highly proficient in adapting to
changing technology. Demonstrating my ability to achieve results in uncharted environments was
the launch of Windows 8, with negative reviews on this technology there was a significant decline
in sales on our leading product, Responsible for not only achieving personal sales target but also
the team under my direction, I immediately analysed the bases on reasons for this. After
considerable review, I concluded that majority of staff were not confident in this new technology
and minimal product knowledge was affecting store results. Charting out an action plan, I utilized a
current staff member who was an experienced end used of Windows 8 and documented a training
presentation on key selling points to be presented to the team. Following the training to staff, I
saw a significant increase in sales almost immediately and targets achieved.
Further evidence of my consistent ability to excel in a result driven position, I have demonstrated
constant success in achieving my personal sales targets which has seen my fixture as a committed
and valuable team member. Due to high sales results within my role as Shift Supervisor, I was
invited to join the CEO Platinum Club that comprises of top sales representatives from Australia
and New Zealand. In a club of a total 150 members over the entire organisation, I am humbled in
the recognition of my high performing results.

Committed to team performance and often assisting others, I am prepared to work overtime or

Smith as a Shift Supervisor, management is often overloaded with extra duties, I provide
assistance to the team by carrying out numerous administrative and support tasks. Due to minimal
staff numbers within stores, it is essential that management and team members support each
other in order to meet customer expectations. To facilitate this business objective, established as a
collaborative team member, I have formed constructive relationships with all stakeholders
ensuring processes followed and culture within the company upheld.
Within my role as a Shift Supervisor at Dick Smith, maintaining high-level verbal communication
skills are essential. Demonstrating my capability to build productive relationships outside of my
work area, I am proactive in my efforts to work with other departments to work together as one
team. In a situation of store theft, I was working in my capacity as Shift Supervisor when I noticed
a customer in a hooded jumper avoiding in store cameras. Approaching the customer, I treated
the situation with suspicion but remained professional and engaged with the customer as per
company policy. Dismissed by the customer, I preceded to alert security who made their way to
the store. Almost instantly. I heard the security alarms activate in the laptop section where
customer had attempted to steal merchandise. With sound judgement and quick thinking, I was
able to prevent theft in store much to the appreciation of our loss prevention department creating
a lasting productive working relationship.

roles, such as mentoring and training, and developing customer-based and team-based service

It was during my commencement within Dick Smith as a Store Salesperson, I was confronted with
a sensitive work issue around breach of company policy. During carrying out my position duties, I
came across a transaction that was against procedures on staff purchases of products. Upon
further investigation, I had the facts at hand that my manager committed the indiscretion. As I had
only recently commenced in this position there was an element of fear associated with coming
forward with this verified and substantiated information to Area Manager, but my personal
integrity could not bring light to this breach in strict company policy. The matter handled
professionally and in line with polices that I uphold, I was commended for my honesty in this
situation.
