As validated through my career history, I have extensive experience in leading teams and company objectives in often-resistant markets. Possessing strong performance and characteristics of a driven professional, I am acknowledged for my demonstrated expertise and capability of building in the areas of operational management, organisational change, program and policy management, implementation of actions required and service delivery. With diverse experience as a senior executive, I have cemented my strengths in defining stakeholder needs and tailoring solutions that meet the needs of the greater community.
Throughout my career, particularly when undertaking contracts within the Government sector as, I have developed the ability to think logically, understand situations from a strategic perspective and follow through by formulating and implementing effective short-term and long-term decisions. Within my role as Director of my own Registered Training Office business, I practiced informed decision-making and demonstrated my sound judgement with recognition of implications. Contributing to solutions and progress, I harness information and opportunities when performing my day-to-day duties, consistently working diligently to adhere with existing practices and improve efficiency. Having the opportunity to demonstrate my capabilities at supporting the strategic direction of my clients, I present as a person with proactive leadership qualities.
Displaying confident and competent analytical thinking skills, I have a proven ability to work within complex frameworks. Within my career to date, I have shown my capability to analyse and also prioritise elevated levels of information and convert objectives into actions. Possessing the aptitude to prioritise problems and gather the right information to analyse has resulted in the recognition of identifying symptoms and causes to reach best conclusions for all parties affected. Whilst performing in my RTO business, I work with diverse and geographically spread workforces, all presenting with individual requirements and strategic visions. In a commitment of supporting these objectives, I instigate long term planning in relation to their staff training requirements, with short-term operational outcomes. Through the results achieved in the last ten years, I have embraced the opportunity to both build and support the strategic planning of government training for apprentices and traineeships.
Within the position of Future Students Coordinator at South West Institute of Technology, I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to work in collaboration with internal stakeholders to implement a cohesive and quality student recruitment campaign. With a proven career history, I carry the transferable skill set to successfully conduct community engagement programs in support of the Institute’s vision to be the South West’s first choice in training. In order to achieve this, I will provide pivotal knowledge, learning and supporting of others whilst demonstrating sound judgement, intelligence and common sense.
Throughout my professional career in the vocational education and training sector spanning 16 years, I consistently maintain a current knowledge of legislative obligations for Equal Opportunity, Disability Services and Occupational Safety and Health and how these impact on employment and service delivery. In my present capacity as Director at Lotus Performance Management, I am required to understand and oversee compliance to the above-mentioned legislative obligations.
Understanding that whilst employed in the Australian Public Service, I am committed to the embracing the numerous policies and procedures developed to protect employees and management, particularly regarding to Workplace Health and Safety, Equal Opportunity and Anti-discrimination. Actively supporting throughout my career and in the opportunity of Future Students Coordinator with the South West Institute of Technology, I will continue to promote employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety and ethical behaviour utilising the various policy and procedures available as well as the local Code of Conduct. Working with a large client, BHP Billiton, I developed a customised solution to their geographically dispersed and differentiating shifts worked training and assessment program. In order to have all stakeholder engagement, I designed and implemented a combination of face to face learning and online forums for students to post discussions and back up the learning they had received. In promoting a new service of learning, ELearning, I was successful in the collaboration of technology learning management systems to deliver modules of study out to a diverse workforce. Embracing technology, I have been heavily involved in communications such as Social Media to interact with clients. In further evidence, I operate my business through a virtual serviced reception to a nationally spread team within Lotus Performance Management.
Possessing a keen eye for detail, I understand how processes work and how to quickly and efficiently resolve problems through process analysis and systematic thinking. I always endeavour to find and implement a resolution that is beneficial to both the organisation and stakeholders involved. Demonstrating my ability to communicate with influence and negotiate persuasively to achieve intended results, I achieved this within my business relationship with BHP Billiton. Educating a workforce that was resistant to, not only the offered professional development, but also technology such as online forum it was essential that I communicated in a confident and transparent manner. As many of the students were required to perform training due to legal requirements and not a passion for personal growth, I initiated meetings with the student population addressing the reasons behind the training and commitment that they would not be left in the field to perform assessments without my continued support. The outcome of my ability to persuade a target audience was that I received 100% engagement by all students and successful completion of the coursework.
Throughout my career at Lotus Performance Management, I have assumed a level of responsibility that has demanded exceptional communication such as undertaking staff mentoring and training, preparing reports, attending meetings and interpreting relevant legislation, as well as regulatory and compliance frameworks. In these interactions, I have consistently provided a high standard of oral and written communication skills that demonstrate my attention to detail, accuracy, conciseness, logical reasoning, clarity and language, as well as tone that is appropriate for my intended audience. The Standards for RTOs require validation of our assessments with other RTOs which is a concern that I identified with the industry, as RTO’s as they often feel that they can be ‘giving away’ their trade secrets and intellectual property to their competitors by showing them how they conduct assessments and the content of their documents. Committed to a solution, I established the Validation Network group on LinkedIn and targeted at RTOs around the country. The purpose of the group is for members to be able to connect with others who have the same qualifications on scope, and who need to form validation groups, to review assessments and discuss their pitfalls and successes. The Validation Network was a great success and I received a lot of excellent feedback from members of the group who found it to be a very good way of connecting and sharing ideas, without having to work with their main competitors to achieve the benefits of validation.
Confirming my ability to deliver exceptional results within constantly changing environments, I note that during my work within Lotus Performance Management. I was instrumental in the successful and immediate design of an online course including videos, interactive forums and work based assessments for the mandatory addition unit, ‘Address adult language, literacy and numeracy’ in the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. Testing this course with professional trainers around the country, whom I gathered via the LinkedIn Validation Network, I proved my efficiency and excellent use of technology to achieve the results of this particular program being the first in Australia to be approved by Australian Skills Quality Authority to be delivered nationally. In addition to this, I identified the necessity of providing potential students with a full functioning landing page including an enquiry form that when sent through the website an alert was received through mobile phone notification. In a leading trend practice, I was able to respond to clients instantly, which in turn resulted in exceptionally low commitment abandonment from prospective students.
A self-motivated and results-orientated professional, I take responsibility for achieving outcomes within my position as Director at Lotus Performance Management. My accomplishments within this position include meeting targets, mentoring and training staff and customers, leading by example, and supporting improvements to systems and procedures.
