Extensive experience in a clinical and/or educator role
Having over 25 years of experience in a clinical setting both in Australia, working for Box Hill
Hospital, and in Thailand at Chaiyaphum Hospital, I have extensive clinical skills and knowledge,
including project management of specific projects for the facilities.
In my most current role at Box Hill Hospital, where I was employed for over 15 years, I worked as a
Registered Nurse within the Emergency Department. During this time I was responsible for
providing clinical care to patients, along with mentoring and training staff members, and working
within multi-disciplinary teams.
In my previous role in Thailand I was Charge Nurse, Clinical Nurse Leader, and Emergency
Management Leader within the A & E Department of Chaiyaphum Hospital. This role saw me
involved in the clinical care of patients, in addition to providing leadership for the emergency
management of the district, which included 15 hospitals.
During this time I was responsible for managing the Emergency Management Project. This project
designed and implemented the Emergency Services System for disaster situations, which included
implementing the plan into all 15 hospitals within the district.
In addition to my clinical experience, for 7 years I worked within an educational environment at
The Thai Language School of Melbourne. For the first 5 years working for the school I was
responsible for teaching and writing curriculum relevant to the students, ranging from
kindergarten to adults. This aligned with and was certified by the Department of Education. I also
possess a Certificate IV in Teaching.
Experience in managing change in a clinical environment
My experience in Thailand, managing the project for designing and implementing the Emergency
Services System, covered managing the change process for each of the 15 hospitals within the
district. During this time I was responsible for working with not only the internal hospital
management and staff, but also the external emergency services staff including, ambulance,
police, and fire brigade.
My role encompassed gaining input from the different services, bringing the specific requirements
together, and designing a suitable emergency system for the district. My ability to manage
stakeholders was the key to the success of the project, as was my understanding of change
management and ability to transfer the new systems over to each of the stakeholders in such a
manner that they understood and implemented the changes.
In addition to this experience, I have focussed on a continuous improvement approach to ensure
success while working for the Box Hill hospital and the Victorian Health System. Due to my expert
skills and knowledge, I have had the opportunity to add value to the hospital by mentoring staff,
while also continuing my own professional development.
I hold a very strong belief in continuous change, both within a clinical environment and on a
personal level. Through my previous experience, leading project teams, as a registered nurse in a
clinical setting, along with teaching in as well as managing an educational facility, I have gained
expert knowledge on dealing with people in diverse settings and the ability to manage
expectations and deliver change in a positive way within all of these environments.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Throughout my career I have had the opportunity to work with a wide range of people, both in
clinical and educational situations along with managing projects. Over the years I have gained
exceptional experience working with people and know how to communicate effectively to ensure
clarity and delivery of the message to the target audience.
I believe my excellent communication skills have been accelerated due to my expert listening skills
and ability to ask the right questions to gain the information required to perform my duties to a
high standard. When working within or leading a project team, it has been imperative that I
demonstrate exceptional communications skills, ensuring the project team understands the key
outcomes of the project and delivers those outcomes within the timeframe allocated.
In addition to demonstrated strong communication skills within the nursing industry, I have
further proven my expert ability to collaborate within project teams and manage a successful
educational facility. This role saw me representing the school within the Department of Education,
Employment and Training, community school networks and the community, along with forming
close relationships with all staff and ensuring constant contact with the parents.
