Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, policies and procedures relevant to contemporary nursing practice and specific to area of practice. An in-depth knowledge of the National Standards and the Quality Cycle.
- In all of my positions as Registered Nurse it was my duty to perform regular examination of my practice and that of other nursing staff, including assisting the Nursing Unit Manager with performance appraisals to ensure contemporary nursing practices were in line with current changes and trends in order to deliver safe and quality nursing that was in line with Queensland Health Code of conduct and Work Health and Safety (WH&S) standards
- One of my tasks as Registered Nurse with Bundaberg Base Hospital was to conduct regular monthly audits (such as the falls prevention audit and the pressure ulcer prevention audit) in compliance with National Standards to ensure all nursing staff adhered to the Quality Cycle and for identification of learning needs
- I have regularly taken responsibility to undertake personal development activities to maintain high competence levels by participating in online training, full day workshops and in-service training in order to keep up-to-date with Queensland Health legislations, standards, policies and procedures

- Throughout my roles as a Registered Nurse I have demonstrated the ability to identify potential issues and initiate and support innovation by utilising effective negotiation and problem solving skills and presenting ideas to management in meetings in order to establish new processes and structures that result in patient-centred outcomes and a positive work environment. This was evidenced in my position at Bundaberg Base Hospital where I assisted with putting a new policy in place for dealing with stroke patients fitted with nasogastric tubes at risk of aspiration
- Having worked in collaboration with the Nursing Unit Manager in my roles with Queensland Health, I am experienced with providing training and development to nursing staff to educate them on new policies and procedures which in turn fostered a culture that strives for excellence in patient care and safe effective unit functioning
