Relevant Trade Certificate in a mechanical trade
I hold two relevant trade qualifications in sheet metal fabrication and boilermaking, with the application of over twenty years workplace experience. Throughout this period, I have consistently maintained the latest trade knowledge to ensure the practice of my qualifications remain relevant, while keeping track with the progressive improvement standards developed within the industry.
Minimum of eight years post-apprenticeship maintenance experience in a mining, heavy or continuous process industry environment
My trade qualifications were gained prior to commencing my own business in 1991. Since then, they have been applied specifically within the mining industry throughout my career. Particular emphasis has been placed on plant and equipment maintenance operations requiring the coordination of plant and equipment repairs and scheduled maintenance, the management of teams and performance to required industry compliance criteria, along with the administrative and financial management of resourcing and inventory. All were handled with the utmost expertise to ensure an efficient and coordinated operational output at all times.
Minimum five years experience in a Mechanical Supervisor position role or similar
In my current role as Maintenance Planner, I have demonstrated a consistent competence in the execution of all role responsibilities with professionalism and expediency, utilising the experience gained from operating my own business for over twenty years. This has allowed me to manage the position as a leader operating with a business management mindset, working far beyond the normal standards required of a typical employee.
This business management experience adds significant value to the role I am applying for, due in no small part to the more complex nature of managing teams, coordinating resources, and executing the operational requirements of the role. I am confident that I can bring the benefits of this experience into the daily demands of both normal and exceptional operations.
Knowledge of maintenance planning principles, procedures and computerised maintenance planning systems (PRONTO)
In my current role, my ability to maintain a competent level of leadership and technical planning skills has been supplemented by the comprehensive and practised use of the PRONTO planning application. Supported by the efficient use of this system, I have consistently been able to improve upon the operational process to achieve a more useful reporting dataset, enabling a higher degree of planning foresight and resource allocation. This has resulted in a greatly improved efficiency regarding both cost management and job completion.
Strong problem solving skills
When faced with a complex array of planning tasks, with the desired outcome of minimising operational downtime of site plant and equipment, I know to employ the network of suppliers and stakeholders, our own team’s knowledge and skills suite, along with my own business management experience to resolve the issues at hand resourcefully, all while maintaining important safety compliance requirements until the solution has been successfully implemented.
